Susan Bertschy

Junior Analyst

8 Years with Vantage Bank

"I love working at Vantage because of the company culture and it has truly offered me a work/life balance. Our leadership team is always looking for ways to enhance the employee and customer experience."

Why did you decide to work at Vantage?
I was actively looking for another position that could offer more growth and professional development than where I was. Coincidentally, Alex Polanco reached out to me via LinkedIn to apply for a Credit Analyst position because the Bank was expanding that team. Once I was offered the position, my instincts told me that it was the right move and I accepted. Vantage has been a great fit for me and my family.

How does your role help our organization, customers and/or community?
I have held three positions so far at Vantage – Commercial Credit Analyst, Compliance Auditor, and Junior Analyst. Each of these roles give their own value to the big picture of community banking. These include analyzing small business customers’ financials and business plans to write credit packages for loan approval, complete compliance audits to ensure the Bank is following procedures and regulations, and review and assess customers’ documentation and activity for BSA/AML protocols.

What do you love most about working at Vantage and/or your job?
I love working at Vantage because of the company culture and it has truly offered me a work/life balance. Leadership is always looking for ways to enhance the employee and customer experience. More specifically, to my job, I immensely enjoy the forensic aspect of BSA/AML – looking for that needle in a haystack, so to speak. As a bonus, the Bank and its people are supportive and generous to a lot of different charity and outreach programs.

What would you tell someone who was considering joining the Vantage team?
I would tell them to definitely apply if they haven’t already! Speaking from my own experience, having managers that understand your strengths and talents and then place you in roles that best fit you is an adVANTAGE.
