October Is Cybersecurity Awareness Month
Building a Cyber Strong America with Vantage Bank
Cybersecurity Awareness Month is a nationwide initiative held every October to promote safer digital practices for individuals and businesses. As your trusted financial partner, Vantage Bank is committed to helping you protect your financial well-being—at home, at work, and everywhere in between.
Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. Whether you're checking your personal account or managing business transactions, staying informed and alert is key to safeguarding your digital life.
Essential Cybersecurity Practices:
· Update Software Promptly, install updates as soon as they’re available. They fix vulnerabilities that attackers can exploit. Enable automatic updates on all devices and apps.
· Use Strong Passwords & a Password Manager, create long, complex, and unique passwords for every account. A password manager can help you generate and store them securely.
· Enable Multifactor Authentication (MFA), MFA adds a second layer of protection. Use it wherever available, especially for email, banking, and business platforms.
· Recognize and Report Phishing, watch out for bank spoofing, impersonation via text, email, or calls. If something feels suspicious, don’t click—report it.
· Never Share Sensitive Information, no legitimate organization will ask for your credentials or personal data via email, text, or phone.
· Back Up Your Data Regularly by using cloud storage or external drives to protect your files from ransomware or hardware failure.
· Use Secure Wi-Fi Connections and avoid public Wi-Fi for sensitive tasks. If necessary, use a VPN to encrypt your connection.
· Be Cautious with Personal Information, oversharing on social media can help hackers guess your passwords. Keep private details private.
· Install Antivirus & Anti-Malware Tools, these tools help detect and block threats before they cause damage.
· Review App Permissions by checking what access your apps have—some may collect more data than necessary.
