The Teller Operations Specialist must be able to maintain a strong knowledge of bank policies and procedures in order to assist teller staff with questions and difficult or complex tasks. The position requires strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills in order to perform varied and moderately complex duties related to the bank’s teller operations area.


The duties listed below may not include all responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

1. Assist and support Teller Operations Team Leader and Branch Operations Director in all methods.

2. Prepare/send documentation to the Secret Service on counterfeit items.

3. Consistently balance work processed. Take the initiative to find and correct outages and to enlist help as needed.

4. Support Teller Operations at all VBT locations.

5. Stay abreast of all teller related projects.

6. Assisting branch tellers with questions and issues.

7. Reconcile and make adjustments for all overages/shortages.

8. Reconcile and make adjustments for all overages/shortages with correspondent bank.

9. Create reports and spreadsheets as needed to analyze data.

10. Responsible for verifying and analyzing the suspense account for all VBT tellers.

11. Ensure that Banking Centers have ample supply of all monetary instruments.

12. Responsible for making sure that cash limits are being respected at all times.

13. Responsible for working closely with Bookkeeping Department in resolving any daily differences with Teller Reconciliations.

14. Perform cash audits of branches.

15. Creates reports and spreadsheets as assigned to analyze data, etc.

16. Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations, which include BSA, CIP, Reg. CC and OFAC requirements as they apply to this particular job title/position.

17. Assess bank wide needs for coin/currency to ensure appropriate cash inventory is maintained with Cash Vault Services.

18. Foster team work with other departments of the bank, sharing knowledge and expertise to improve processes.

19. Represent the bank professionally and ethically in all activities related to this position.

20. Perform Item Capture Duties.

21. Understand and verify all Reg. CC Holds and rules and regulations.

22. Other duties as assigned.

• An Associate’s Degree and/or equivalent work experience is required.

• Exceptional communication skills and a thorough knowledge of teller responsibilities.

• Prior supervisory experience is preferred, as well as, strong analytical/problem solving skills.

• Demonstrated data entry and PC skills.

• Work requires the ability to read and write well enough to communicate in both oral and written form.

• Must be able to work in a team environment with the ability to interact well, and in a positive manner, with co-workers and management.

• Must have ability to work in a fast-paced environment without compromising quality.

• Need to have flexibility in scheduling. Must work until completion of daily functions.

• Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
