JOB SUMMARY

Mortgage Closing Manager is responsible for working with processors, underwriters, and other professionals to complete all necessary documents in order to generate and complete mortgage loan closing documents. They are to review all documentation for accuracy and ensure liens are cleared on title polices; insure loans are coded properly and lending authority approvals are accurate; collect loans fees and review settlement statement to ensure fees and costs are accurate. They are expected to hire, train, supervise, and guide closers to help improve their efficiency.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

The duties listed below may not include all responsibilities that the person in this role may be asked to perform. Incumbent may be required to perform other related duties as assigned.


  1. Supervises, trains, and nurtures current and future closing department personnel in an effort to strengthen the abilities and efficiency of the team.
  2. Make suggestions for procedures and best practices to improve the overall closing functions in the mortgage department.
  3. Reviews mortgage loan documentation; title policy; loan worksheet for accurate customer information; loan codes; name; address; collateral; loan amount, terms, purpose, collateral and account balances.
  4. Reviews loan approvals to ensure information is complete; follows up to obtain missing data
  5. Prepares in house loan documents and disclosures to complete real estate loan package for closing.
  6. Monitors and update Mortgage Director on mortgage closing pipeline to make sure loans are worked and closed in a timely manner.
  7. Assists loan officers and title companies to ensure proper related documentation is prepared and/or provided.
  8. Additional duties include analyzing any relevant title or escrow to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
  9. Follows policies and procedures; completes administrative tasks correctly and on time; supports the Bank’s goals and values; benefits the bank through outside activities.
  10. Familiar with all loan federal regulations pertaining to real estate loan documentation.
  11. Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal banking regulations, which include BSA, CIP, and OFAC requirements as they apply to this particular job title/position.
  12. Assists in post-closing as necessary, monitors funded pipeline loans to ensure loans are sold in a timely manner.


QUALIFICATIONS

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.


  • High school diploma or associates certificate from college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Work related experience should consist of a credit or loan processing background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.
  • Basic level of work experience, knowledge and training in all loan servicing activities and terminology.
  • Basic knowledge of related state and federal banking compliance regulations, and other Bank lending policies.
  • Basic knowledge of title policies and related loan regulations such as RESPA, HMDA and other Bank lending policies on loans to directors.
  • Basic skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; word processing, spreadsheet and specialty software programs.
  • Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
  • Intermediate math skills; calculate interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent, including the drafting and interpretation of bar graphs.
  • Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
  • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work with general supervision while performing duties.
